HOME TO ITALIAN SPINONI
The Barold affix is co-owned between my daughter Emma and I with the working side of things being looked after by our better-halves. We are Spinoni enthusiasts and we are passionate about our dogs. We only breed for our own purposes and only after extensive research and health tests.
The family name Barrett and our Kennel Club Affix Barold are one of the same, Barrett is derived from the Gaelic Barold, its meaning “Work like people and Bear Mighty” seem to fit exactly with our families’ attitude to life. Over 35 years ago, whilst at a show with the Labradors we had a chance encounter with a lady showing a Spinoni. My husband never forgot this meeting and the desire to own one of these special dogs never wavered. Although it was many years later before we obtained our first Spinoni we have never looked back and they now have a permanent place in our hearts.
Building our success through carefully chosen bloodlines, and as a family concern we have made the decision to remain hobbyists. In the grand world of Italian Spinoni we are “newbie’s” but don’t be fooled by this. With modern technology and the tools provided by the World Wide Web researching bloodlines and health results is all at your fingertips. The knowledge gained from the pioneering work and experiences of longstanding kennels is all there to be utilised. We pride ourselves on making the most of every resource, adapting the techniques from those that have gone before us and combining that valuable knowledge with modern day methods. The result we believe is producing the best of both.
